Happy New Year 2006!
What a start to 2006! It rained the whole day, virtually. We woke up to a gloomy morning on Sunday, wondering if the sky would clear for the SPH Gift of Music concert at Botanic Gardens.

Finally the sky cleared. We made our way to my mom's house for a wanton noodles feast. After that, we made our way to Botanic Gardens. At first the weather looked fine. We walked round the Symphony Lake to feed the ducks and fishes. We came upon a large group of ducks, of perhaps 20. At first Matthew was not sure where the ducks were. He kept staring in the general direction where I was pointing. The ducks "quarrelled" and they were flapping their wings. Matthew got excited and kept pointing at them.

A pretty lotus flower in the lake.

Here's one group of ducks. Can you spot the tortoise?

It was a hot afternoon and all the fishes were hiding in the shade under the lotus leaves. We did not see that many fishes and it was difficult to lure them out with the pieces of bread we were throwing into the lake. But we saw an arowana! Huge one. Too bad I did not capture a photo of that.

When we finally circled the lake, it started to drizzle, then it poured. What a disappointment. But we did meet up with the other SM mommies, daddies and babies. Elaine, Weiwen and Iggy, Jamie, Joash and Cayden, Stephie, her hubby (I did not get his name, sorry) and Cherylin, Lih Miin, Chee Wey and YiXuan. Matthew was big gor gor (brother) that day. We managed to get five high chairs for all five babies. But we did not manage to get a photo of all five of them together.

Here are some photos...

Matthew and Iggy.
Both of them are about the same size. Do they look alike too?

Iggy, Cayden and Cherylin.
The rose among the thorns before YiXuan came; Cherylin was not too happy.
Which of you boys bullied her?

Matthew did not have much nap, so by 6:30pm he was getting cranky. It was time for us to go home.

I hit on a great new idea to bathe Matthew. In a big pail. This way, we did not have to worry about him standing and trying to get out of the tub. He could have the water all the way up to his chest when he sits down in the tub. Here's a photo of the sleepyhead!
